A new tropical depression forming in the area could further worsen conditions this week.
While Vietnam is used to heavy rainfall between June and September, extreme weather events have become more frequent and destructive, damaging both homes and crops. The country is among the most flood-prone in the world, with nearly half its population living in high-risk areas. Scientists have warned that climate change is intensifying storms and precipitation throughout the region, making deadly floods and landslides unavoidable.
